SHELF LIFE STUDIES
For a shelf-life study, we require:
- Six unopened bottles/packages of each product presented to us as you intend to sell it.
- Instructions as to how you would like each product stored. (refrigerated, ambient, etc.)
- An estimate of the number of days you expect each product to last.
- Additionally, if you have a product which requires HPP (High Pressure Pasteurization), you must ensure your product goes through this process before submitting to the lab. (Pasteurization is your responsibility.)
Our process is as follows:
- We will test your product for Total Bacterial Count, Coliform, Lactic Acid Bacteria, and Yeast/Mold upon each of the six openings.
- The first sample will also be tested for pH verification if it is a liquid or water activity if it is a solid.
- We will test the product at intervals that will achieve the desired shelf life or beyond.
- You will receive notification if there is a problem along the way.
- Once complete, a laboratory report will be issued with a recommendation for shelf life.
- The report will be emailed to you.
THE LAB DOES NOT ACCEPT REQUESTS BY PHONE, VOICE MAIL, OR TEXT. ALL TEST ANALYSIS AND/OR PROJECT ALTERATIONS MUST BE SUBMITTED IN WRITING. SUBMIT TEST ANALYSIS ALTERATIONS to lab@trelfalabs.com. SUBMIT PROJECT ALTERATIONS via projects@trelfalabs.com OR UPLOAD YOUR DOCUMENTATION TO THE CUSTOMER PORTAL. OUR ENTIRE STAFF HAS ACCESS TO THESE SHARED MAILBOXES AND THE PORTAL, SO THERE IS NO NEED TO COPY ADDITIONAL EMPLOYEES. DOING SO, WILL CAUSE IN-BOX CLUTTER, CONFUSION, AND DELAY YOUR REQUEST.
